"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."2 Tim 3:16-17
Sometimes problems arise in life that impact our relationships; our relationship with God and our relationships with those we are closest to. The way we react to life’s problems and difficulties impacts our everyday behaviors and emotions. Marital difficulties, emotional distress (depression, anxiety, anger, etc.), human relationship difficulties, health issues, and sinful behaviors can all cause us to lose the joy, peace, and hope that a relationship with Jesus Christ brings. This is where biblical counseling can help you.
What is Biblical Counseling?
Biblical counseling is about loving people by taking the time to understand them, interpreting their life situations through the grid of Scripture, confronting them with God’s answers and wisdom, and challenging them to engage in change that glorifies and pleases God. The Bible is the sole authoritative source for all change so counseling is carried on in harmony with the regenerating and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. Biblical counseling will help you to realize the fruits of the Spirit in your life (Gal 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control), by utilizing God’s Word to help you become more Christ-like in your everyday thoughts and actions.
Assuming responsibility for your responses to all of your circumstances.
Striving to please God in all of your circumstances, whether God changes them or not.
Helping you to understand which of your thoughts and actions are unbiblical (sinful), and are preventing you from moving forward in your relationships (God and/or people).
Then using the Bible to exhort and encourage you to replace sinful behavior with biblical thoughts and actions.
Finally, equipping you with God's knowledge and wisdom for biblical change in your life so that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, you can walk in a manner pleasing to God when future similar difficulties arise.
